height biggest sculpture of Lord Hanuman is located in the famous Kaila Devi Mandir
at Dewas town belongs to Malwa region under Dewas district in the Indian
state of Madhya Pradesh. It is located about 153 kms from the state capital
city Bhopal.
The name
Dewas is derived from the Devi
Vaishini hill in the city, commonly known as Tekri. The hill has a
temple of deity Devi Tulja Bhawani (known as Badi Mata) and Chamunda Mata
(Chhoti Mata). The word Dewas is also believed to be a ‘sandhi’ of words ‘Dev’ deity
and ‘Vas’ Marathi for abode, thus Dewas means “Abode of the Deity or God or Goddess”.
There is a Shakti
Peeth of the Nath Yogis on Tekri which is traditionally belongs to the Nath community.
According to the Nath history, we find that Bharthari, brother of King Vikramaditya,
who has relation with this region belonging to Naths. Yogi Gorakhnath was also
related to this region.
