Sankat Mochan Hanuman Temple is one of the sacred temples of Hindu God Hanuman in
the city of Varanasi belongs to Varanasi district in the Indian state of Uttar
Pradesh. It is located about 320 kms south-east of the state capital city Lucknow
and 121 kms east of Allahabad.
Varanasi is also
known as Banaras or Kashi and nicknamed as “The spiritual capital of India” situated
on the banks of Assi River near famous Kashi Vishwanath temple and Durga Mandir.
Sankat
Mochan temple was founded by Saint Tulsidas who was the author of Ramcharitmanas, which is the greatest
version of Lord Shri Ram story written as chopaiya-poem in vernacular Awadhi language.
It is believed that the temple has been built on the very spot where Goswami
Tulsidas had a vision of Lord Hanuman.
