Bade Hanuman Ji Temple

Lying Posture long idol of Lord Hanuman at Bade Hanuman Ji Temple is located at Allahabad city (also known as Teerthraj Prayag) belongs to Allahabad district in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.
Temple deity Lord Hanuman idol is Sleeping Posture (Lete Hue) and located about ten steps below ground level.
As per mythology, when Lord Ram after conquering Lanka and defeating Ravan came here to worship at Sangam, Hanuman Ji experienced severe body ache and laid at Sangam. Finishing his prayers, when Lord Ram asked Hanuman Ji to proceed further, Hanuman Ji denied proceeding due to severe pain. Sita Maa then blessed Hanuman ji and all the pains were flown away from his body by the sacred water in the Triveni Sangam.
The city's original name Prayag or "place of offerings" comes from its position at the Sangam (confluence) of the Ganga, Yamuna and mythical Sarasvati rivers. It is the second oldest city in India and plays a central role in Hindu scriptures.
