Shree Ghanteshwar Hanuman Mandir is located in Khar (W) area of Mumbai in the Indian
state of Maharashtra. It is actually about 10 minutes walking distance from
Khar (West) station and situated on the main roadside adjacent to famous Madhu Park in Khar.
The temple
has got its name Ghanteshwar (which
literally means Lord of Bells) since it is full of brass bells which people have donated after
their wishes have come true. Legend goes that if you ask something at this
temple, and your wish gets fulfilled, one should donate a bell.
This is
quite an old temple visited by many people, especially on Tuesday's and Saturday's. It would take
at least 45 minutes to around an hour in a queue during these two days.
On Tuesday's and Saturday's, one can offer garlands, mustard oil and
coconuts to the idol. All of these, you can purchase from the temple itself.
Timings of the temple: morning: 6.00 am to 2.00 pm, evening: 5.30
