Shree Hanuman Dandi Sankirtan Mandir

Shree Hanuman Dandi Sankirtan Mandir is located at Bet Dwarka (or Shankhodhar) under Devbhoomi Dwarka district in the Indian state of Gujarat. Temple deity is Lord Hanuman and his son Makardhwaj (who was part vanara (monkey) & part reptile (makara) which is rare to see in India. Bet Dwarka (or Beyt Dwarka) is situated about 32 kms from the very famous Lord Krishna’s legendary Dwarka.
Shree Hanuman Dandi Sankirtan Mandir is situated about 5 kms east of the Beyt Dwarka's main temple. One of the rare features of this temple is the idol of Lord Hanuman's son Makardhwaj. It is said that the celibate Lord Hanuman impregnated a reptile/fish with a drop of his perspiration, which conceived and gave birth of a son as strong as Lord Hanuman. Legend also says that during the famous war of Lanka, Ahiravan kidnapped and kept both Lord Ram and Lakshman in Patal (the world underneath the earth). Lord Hanuman chose this place to enter Patal and had to fight Makardhwaj, who was guarding it. This is the place and now temple where they met and recognized each other as father and son.
Hanuman Jayanti evokes a large celebration here. Also, on Dussehra (or Vijaya Dashami), the idol of Shri Krishna is adorned like Shri Ram, who is carried here for a special visit on a Palkhi (Palaquin).
The temple also has facilities of accommodation for visitors who might want to perform special worships.
