Ulte Hanuman
Mandir is located at Sanwer town belongs to Indore district in the Indian state
of Madhya Pradesh. This is one of the unique Lord Hanuman temple in which idol
is in Reverse Pose (Ulte).
It is
located at a distance of 30 kms towards north from the district head quarters
Indore and also 30 kms from Ujjain.
As per local
legend, the temple is since Ramayan period. Once in Ram-Ravan war in Lanka,
Ahiravan (who was step-brother of Ravan) captive sleeping Shri Ram-Lakshman and
goes into Patal Lok. At that time, Rambhakt Hanuman goes to Patal Lok from the
very spot where today temple exists hence this is also called Patal Vijay
Hanuman Temple.
Other idols
of Shri Ram, Devi Sita, Lakshmanji and Lord Shiva-Parvati are also worshiped
here.
